Save BBC Introducing Update
Friday, January 20th, 2012
By now there are few people that have heard about the Save BBC Introducing campaign. Our own Scottish pioneers have been Podcart favourite Pop Cop and Pelmet Nite’s founder Paul Downie. We were not alone in our surprise when Joan McAlpine started to support the campaign, which has both delighted and promoted faith in a lot of us music types. The petition alone has gained over 7,000 signatures and artists such as Frightened Rabbit, Biffy Clyro, Paulo Nutini and more have been disgusted by the proposed decision to cut all the regional shows and make them into one.
Yesterday Joan McAlpine secured the debate and brought it to Edinburgh and you can now watch the debate below:
What we must stress is that you have to keep highlighting this issue and not let it disappear into the shadows. The more it stays in the limelight then the more chance there is of something realistically happening. You the unsigned have this amazing platform to showcase your music and it is a magnificent filter to work towards.

I would like to see the BBC Introducing shows a.k.a Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales stay put as there’s many good artists I’ve heard thanks to their shows. Lastly, the BBC Introducing…. programmes are amongst my favourite listening pleasures.
