  • Glasgow Podcart is a Scottish based music/arts website. We produce weekly podcasts showcasing the best in grass roots and unsigned artists not only from Scotland, but around the world. The main idea behind the podcast being that we don’t want to create some pretentious ‘Indie’ site and would rather expose as much new talent as possible. KTNYR Preview: January 5th!

It is time to start our previews and coverage of King Tuts New Year’s Revolution! Over 75 artists will be playing the venue over approximately 2 weeks in January. It all kicks off January 5th!

The first night is an absolute beauty and we are going to tell you why!

Headlining the opening night of the festivities on January 5th are those party animals The LaFontaines. Having first seen the gang live in The Classic Grand at Lo Fi’s Christmas Party a couple of years ago we were pleasantly surprised.

The LaFontaines have since grown in sound and their fanbase has reflected this. If you want a party then here is your band.

DARC

The supports are absolutely brilliant for this gig. First up is Edinburgh’s DARC. DARC produce fabulously filthy electronic hits and their live shows have become infamous due to the energy and sheer perspiration they produce.

Teklo

Next up is electronic/dubstep and all round nice guy Teklo. Live he is a ball of pure adrenaline and his beats are harsh and additive. Having remixed headline artist The LaFontaines already and named as a one to watch for 2012 by Ally McCrae of BBC Introducing Scotland then you know you have hit a jackpot by discovering Teklo.

Kid Robotik

The night doesn’t stop there. Jungle, dubstep and drum ‘n’ bass artist Kid Robotik is also on this disgustingly good bill. A new kid on the block to Podcart (see what we did there), but one that ticks my boxes especially with his drum ‘n’ bass outpourings. Having grown up with a Breakbeat Era background then I am very much looking forward to seeing Kid Robotik live.

Completing the night are DJ sets from Megamegaman and bikini wearing entrepreneur David Weaver. Both promise to bring great tunes and entertainment to the proceedings.
