North Atlantic Oscillation
1.10.2010 | Artist Of The Week

As I look through the rear-view mirror at 2009 and all the artists I discovered, I look with enthusiasm through my windscreen to the next decade. One artist that captured PodcART’s attention in the latter part of the year was the anomalous North Atlantic Oscillation.
With a fitting opening to our first podcast of 2010 their track ‘Cell Count’ is one reason why Glasgow PodcART have chosen North Atlantic Oscillation as our Artist Of The Week. ‘Cell Count’ exemplifies the disparate threads of sound they create and weaves them into a perfect blanket of melody.
This 3 piece hail from Glasgow and Edinburgh and have received regular praise from music reviewers and radio stations. Their latest release the Callsigns EP reiterates the sheer diversity that this band have. This lists the stand out cover version of The Flamingos classic ‘I Only Have Eyes For You’ and is paralyzingly beautiful.
With an album soon to be released North Atlantic Oscillation are experimental sonancy that’s neither pretentious nor monotonous. It is deep and complex and grows on you with every listen. We urge you to go and discover them as ‘it’s amazing what they can do’.
