All Change!

All Change!

Well what a week and a half. I don’t think I have been to as many gigs in my life. I feel like I have done a festival this week. We saw some simply amazing bands: Brother Louis Collective, Washington Irving, French Wives, Fanfarlo, Endor, Apricot, Aaron Wright, Chris Blair, Jill Leighton, Snow Patrol, Hazey Janes. Unbelievable!

We have a new addition to our team by the name of Jerry Dowds, he will be starting with us from Monday and he runs the worthy website www.punk-art.co.uk! He studies at Glasgow School of Art and also lectures. It means we don’t have to blag about Art as the rest of us are pretty shit in our knowledge ha!

Will and Paddy our genius website designers have got me addicted to Skype and there has been much hilarity, I really think a Skype Podcast may be in order between my Belfast team members and ourselves. Could this be the first Skype Podcast of all time?

I have heard so much new music this week and it just increases every day. The Fanfarlo album is genius and I have even been experiencing Empire of the Sun whose song ‘Walking On A Dream’ seems to make me smile so much. Heard PJ Harvey & John Parish for the first time today and my word the song ‘Black Hearted Love’ is going to be HUGE. I am going to spend an hour today searching from some new tunes nationally and internationally as I feel a bit out of the loop at the moment which if truthful I am not happy about.

We have meetings today with Hinterland folk and Oxjam people which I am excited about. I also found out that my mate Simon’s band Prego are playing Hinterland which I am so looking forward to, they are a wonderful up and coming band that have received praise from loads of folk including Steve Lamacq. You can check them out at www.myspace.com/pregomusic. We will be doing a filmed interview with them and several other bands which we are excited about and it gives Ben an excuse to get his overly camp and twee interview techniques out in the open.

We are planning our Oxjam gig for March 26th which will be held at Pivo Pivo and the ideas that have been thrown about already are proving to make this something a bit special.

I have realised this week that the team we have is amazing. I love them all dearly and I could not be more thrilled to be working with a more talented and inspiring group of people. I think we sometimes wish that Belfast and Glasgow were a bit closer but hey its only 25 minutes on a plane.

For this week that’ll do! I will write more of these as there is a lot of stuff coming up.

Love to all

Halina x
