Camera Obscura are a band that have been playing for more than a decade now. Their romantic yet melancholy sound has gained them countless fans of all generations and continents. They have been praised highly by the likes of music legend Richard Hawley and hero John Peel.  They produce a style of music that ultimately becomes one of those friends that you always go back to for comfort.

The poignant vocal talents of Tracyanne Campbell are instantly recognised. Musically, Camera Obscura create grand dancehall era ballads that you would want to share with anyone. 1950’s-esque drum beats, soaring string sections and beautifully swelling guitars combine to create a sound that Camera Obscura have made their own. It is immaculately pure.

Their latest album ‘My Maudlin Career’ for me is a complete breath of fresh air this year. It is a far cry from what I listen to regularly but has become a firm favourite over the last months.

We have been lucky enough to have been given 2 tickets to give away to their show at Glasgow’s Barrowlands Thursday 29^th October. They will be supported by the glorious Emma Pollock and Magic Arm.
