What A Strange And Marvellous World!!

Well, where to start? Firstly I would again like to thank everyone who came to the 13th Note last night for our second live session featuring Julie And The Doogans and Louise McVey & Cracks In The Concrete. It was a great turnout again and on first listen the recordings sound amazing.

We have filmed the gigs and they will be available soon, I could wax lyrical about how good both bands were but if you were there you already know it and of you weren’t then blogger Jim (@ayetunes) has already summed everything up in his excellent review which you can read here. Once again I would also like to thank all the fabulous staff at the 13th Note, their support is incredible and the sound at last nights gig made the job of producing a decent live recording incredibly easy so thank you all. I would also like to thank Muckle Sandwich impresario Neil, photo magician Stephen Thomas and Ben Grant (@ibenji) who provide continuous support for PodcART, your support is essential for what we do and our gratitude is immeasurable.

I would also like to take this time to apologise to the Bronto Skylift crew. We had some problems with the recording on the night of our first session which is the reason why these recordings have not yet been made available for people to view from the website. We are still hopeful that this can be salvaged and I will continue to squirrel away using various pieces of electronic jiggery pokery to ensure that these extraordinary recordings can be heard. For obvious reasons I want to ensure I do the band justice so Sharon, Niall and Iain I am sorry, but a finished product is on the way!!

I also want to thank Glider for giving me access to their rehearsal before their brilliant King Tut’s gig. I will be completing a Glider promo video for them very soon because a) they are brilliant and b) they are five of the nicest people you will come across in Glasgow. Humble, grateful and devoid of ego they also play stunning edgy pop music that never fails to put a smile on my face. I also managed to shoot a good portion of Miss The Occupiers set in King Tuts on Monday night also so hopefully I can get something completed for Magnus and Roz as well who were, as always, fucking awesome. If you haven’t seen Miss The Occupier yet then you really are missing out! Perfect post-punk music fronted by a gravel voiced sex-siren and backed up by one of the best guitarists on the scene. I am convinced if Miss The Occupier were from New York people would have been getting silly about them ages ago.

So for the next couple of weeks I have nothing but editing in store!! I will be popping in to Blackfriars on the 16th for the Psychedelic Ballroom plus second hand marcher Sophie Sexon is playing a solo gig in the Note on the 17th and how could I forget seeing Alexisonfire in the Academy tonight. If I don’t bump into you at these gigs I will DEFINITELY see you at And So I Watch You From Afar plus This Will Destroy You on the 23rd in Ivory Blacks!!

Finally a reminder about our gig on November 1st which showcases some of the most talked about emerging Artists in Scottish music this year. Yahweh, Esperi, Debutant and Panda Su play a special gig with a few added extras. The Classic Grand will surely be a hub of excitement that night!
