It is a cliché to say that you can tell a lot about someone by the music they write, that is a given. Esperi creates music of gorgeous tranquillity that compares to polarised moonbeams bursting through the holes in our bubbles. He has the ability to make something expansive and rich with the simplest sounds.

Glasgow PodcART has chosen Esperi as our chosen Artist Of The Week. He first washed upon our shores through listening to Debutant and Panda Su, two of our favourite artists since starting Glasgow PodcART. Hailing from Dundee, he has a family collective of musicians that donate to his recordings. Esperi’s songs are about the things in his life that he clearly loves, his family and home being two of those.

He creates a cornucopia of wistful melodies that have labyrinths of xylophones and glockenspiels flowing within each song. My fellow PodcARTers and I have discussed that his guitar playing is second to none and that he is clearly a well-rounded musician. Each song seems to come to a beautifully indulgent conclusion yet on the way it is sonically adventurous.

Other tracks such as ‘My Tear Dissolved The View’, which is epic in title, manages to draw the calmness in you. It ’s attention to detail is relentless and it immerses you in brittles of twittering that is peppered with the dysfunctional futurism of electronic beats.

Esperi is an artist that is a wonderful surprise. Few artists have the ability to create music with machines and materials that is organic enough to make it earthly but also as emotional as human touch. His chrysalis is well on its way to way to being stripped off in the slipstream.
